I am sure you remember the fantastic Swedish groups ABBA and Roxette. But do you remember Carola? The 16-year-old girl who entered the stage in Melodifestivalen 1983 and stole the heart of all swedes. She sang her way into every swede’s living room and won the competition with ‘Främling’ (Stranger). She didn’t reach as far in Eurovosion song contest but she got to third place and won a few years later with ‘Fångad av en stormvind’ (Captured by a love storm).

‘Främling’ became her debut album and sold over 1 million copies, which made it the biggest selling album in Swedish history. Carola has recorded her music in many languages, such as German, Dutch, English and Japanese. She was also the first Scandinavian to preform in China.

Carola really grew fast and apart from this she started writing her own songs, made a gospel album, became a musical actress, played a role in the Swedish version of ‘Prince of Egypt’, made several Christmas albums and recorded her favourite Elvis Presley songs.

She returned to Melodifestivalen 2006 with the song ‘Evighet’ (‘Invinceble’) and won again, getting to represent Sweden in Eurovision song contest.

Which is your ‘all-time favourite’ song by Carola?
